Adept is hiring a Packaging Engineer II to support Adept’s fast-growing CPG staffing Practice. The individual selected for this role will work as part of a cross functional team and lead activities to complete packaging design and packaging deployment for innovation/growth projects and productivity projects across multiple geographies with an emphasis on delivering the desired consumer experience. In this role, the engineer will develop activities such as packaging design and specifications, scale up, commissioning, etc., and plan for the effective use of resources including the use of external agencies and suppliers. To succeed in this role, the engineer will use their understanding of equipment design and manufacturing processes to ensure that packaging specifications are determined with excellence. This role can be supported remotely but travel would be required to client’s location in New York

Key Responsibilities:

  • Packaging development and/or packaging deployment, ideally within fast moving consumer goods or consumer packaging goods environment
  • Leading teams and influencing cross-functional teams
  • Planning and delivering multiple priorities
  • Proactively identifying complex technical or business problems and creating and implementing solutions
  • Influencing senior and cross-functional stakeholders verbally and in writing, including writing technical reports
  • Championing for consumer needs
  • Technical curiosity and collaborative mindset
  • Strong communication skills needed managing key stakeholders - business and commercialization leaders in the venture companies and external partners.
  • Knowledge in packaging materials, equipment and evaluations is necessary.
  • Apply technical knowledge to projects working closely with internal and co-manufacturers providing technical based solutions.
  • Define and develop packaging material specifications, develop and conduct testing plans. define critical criteria for in plant testing and defect levels. Outline critical parameters and procedures working closely with the quality teams.
  • Ability to stand alone and provide technical leadership on commercialization projects for internal and external manufacturing with technical rigor and executional excellence.


  • Bachelor Science (Packaging, Mechanical Engineer) Masters of Packaging Science preferred but not required
  • Preferred 5-10 yrs experience working with packaging technology & science in the consumer package goods industry
  • Strong packaging science & engineering skills
  • Demonstrated technical leadership with project management experience managing senior stakeholders.
  • Travel requirements: Up to 25%
