The Opportunity
 
Adept Group is looking for a Senior Packaging Engineer in the Food and Beverageindustry! This role would provide packaging development for the leadership team and work across a variety of brands to run and support line trails, specifications, testing, and go to market systems.
 
This is a hybrid role that would require 3 days onsite in Hackettstown, NJ and Newark, NJ.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Leads complex projects or assignments within large projects with minimal supervision. 
  • Lead packaging qualification activities by generating packaging protocols, overseeing test execution, analyzing test data, and authoring qualification reports.
  • Provide technical expertise for packaging risk assessments and failure mode/root cause analyses.
  • Lead the improvement and standardization of packaging on existing products with focus on performance and cost effectiveness
  • Plan and execute a design of experiments. Perform statistical analysis on data generated from experiments and write final reports.
  • Initiate and coordinate packaging line trials including planning, conducting and post-trial activities.
  • Partner with purchasing and production departments to determine costs and feasibility of producing proposed packaging
  • Lead internal and external relationships to effectively influence and gain support for initiatives.
  • Able to identify areas of cost savings or improvements to new and on market products
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering.
  • 5 – 8  years packaging engineering experience, specifically in Food & Beverage or CPG.
  • Must have experience with flexible films, paperboard, and corrugated materials.
  • Working knowledge of both flexible FFS and horizontal flow wrap equipment is required.
  • Experience with die line creation required.
  • Technical depth on a packaging material, format, or process.
  • Advanced understanding of the full packaging development and qualification process (or stage gate process).
  • Advanced knowledge of resource planning for trials. 
  • Advanced knowledge of FDA and ISO requirements related to packaging and labeling, ensuring robust package validation and qualification.
  • Advanced understanding of project timeline development.
  • Demonstrated effective communications (verbally and in writing) across internal and external teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage time efficiently and effectively across multiple activities and tasks simultaneously.

Salary Range: $85,000 - $127,000
