The Opportunity

Adept is hiring an experienced Senior Packaging Engineer with experience in the Food and Beverage Industry, in the Greater Minneapolis/ St. Paul Area.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead optimization / cost savings projects, with a focus on primary/secondary packaging and pallet pattern harmonization. 
  • Lead packaging qualification activities by generating packaging protocols, overseeing test execution, analyzing test data, and authoring qualification reports.
  • Provide technical expertise for packaging risk assessments and failure mode/root cause analyses.
  • Lead the improvement and standardization of packaging on existing products with focus on performance and cost effectiveness.
  • Plan and execute a design of experiments. Perform statistical analysis on data generated from experiments and write final reports.
  • Initiate and coordinate packaging line trials including planning, conducting and post-trial activities.
  • Partner with purchasing and production departments to determine costs and feasibility of producing proposed packaging.
  • Build internal and external relationships to effectively influence and gain support for initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in packaging engineering or related engineering field with a focus in Food and Beverage.
  • 7-12 years packaging engineering experience. Ideal candidate should have Retail/QSR industry experience, including Films, Frozen Food and Microwave experience. 
  • Technical depth on a packaging material, format, or process, including microwave and sustainable packaging formats (compostable bowls, cups, etc)
  • Advanced understanding of the full packaging development and qualification process (or stage gate process).
  • Advanced knowledge of resource planning for trials.
  • Advanced understanding of project timeline development.
  • Demonstrated effective communications (verbally and in writing) across internal and external teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to quick and agile with ability to multitask and manage time efficiently and effectively across multiple activities and tasks simultaneously.
