The Opportunity

Adept Group is hiring an experienced Packaging Engineer II with industry experience in the Food and Beverage sector. The PEII must possess a solid drive for results, good project management skills, a creative and growth mindset and an ability to create strong network and relationships to drive the innovation agenda. This individual will work both independently and with guidance to deliver relevant innovation and will work effectively with cross functional teams to drive projects to execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for delivering Packaging development activities and is accountable for the execution of the allocated programs to bring project through to commercialization
  • Maintains and implements Global Packaging Standards and Innovations
  • Ensures that the Packaging development designs deliver products to meet the brands KQA’s.
  • Role supports Global Factory Innovation and Engineering in implementing, Innovating and optimizing current packaging platforms.
  • Ensures that the Packaging development is carried out such that timelines are met to market products.
  • Ensures that the Packaging specifications are as accurate as possible to ensure correct costing. 
  • Ensures that Packaging quality and Manufacturing performance measures and corrective actions are specified for each new and current Pack to ensure performance at the required level for all manufactured products
  • Works within cross-functional teams to ensure that design thinking ways of working are used within the projects and programs they are accountable for.
  • Consults with the Technology teams to help to deliver the required technology
  • Remains abreast of new developments in food technologies, packaging, design, category trends and related fields
  • Connects with peers in other R&D functions and associates to share best practices, and helps to accelerate the global deployment of new innovations
  • Initiates and coordinates trials with the Factory Innovation Team for Commissioning, Validation and Start-up planning and execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree Packaging Engineering or equivalent degree in engineering, chemical engineering or a technical area including chemistry or food science is required
  • 2-5 years packaging engineering experience
  • Hands on experience in the development and successful launch of new Packaging in FMCG
  • In-depth understanding of the full packaging development and qualification process (or stage gate process).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of resource planning for trials.
  • Intermediate understanding of project timeline development.
  • Demonstrated effective communications (verbally and in writing) across internal and external teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage time efficiently and effectively across multiple activities and tasks simultaneously
