The Opportunity
Adept Group is seeking a Packaging Equipment Engineer to join our team. This candidate would have a minimum of 5 - 7 years of Packaging Equipment Engineering experience within the Food Manufacturing Industry.
50% travel, domestic and international, is required to be onsite.
Responsibilities
Design:
- Create basis of design and scope of work documents
- Develop design concepts
- Develop functional specifications for packaging lines
- Work with sanitary design concepts
- Create AutoCAD equipment layouts
- Interpret mechanical design requirements and customer specifications
- Review vendor shop drawings and discipline coordination drawings
Engineering:
- Create packaging flow diagrams, material balance, packaging matrix, equipment specifications, OEE documents, speed matrix and V- Curve
- Develop budget estimates
- Create and follow up with equipment bid packages
- Develop and maintain delivery and installation schedule
- Understand size and placement of support equipment
- Provide expertise in manufacturing and packaging design principles
- Design systems including conveyance, wrapping, bagging, cartoning, filling, bottling, case packing and palletizing
- Assist in process simulation
- Develop project specific procurement documents for packaging equipment
- Assist with machine and process design
- Preparation of machine testing requirements and procedures
Site work:
- Survey existing conditions
- On-site construction project coordination to assist with the installation and commissioning of packaging equipment
- Supervise equipment vendors and installation crews
- Attend and present at client meetings
- Lead factory acceptance testing at vendors shop
- Provide coaching and/or mentoring to a subordinate group when directed by supervisor.
- Must have been a part of a project team that installed a packaging system with components including conveyance, wrapping, bagging, cartoning, filling, bottling, case packing or palletizing
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 - 7 years of experience in packaging equipment engineering within the food manufacturing industry.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Packaging, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
- Extensive experience with capital project execution, scope writing, and cost estimation.
- Proven ability to work in unionized manufacturing environments and navigate labor considerations.
- Strong technical expertise in evaluating and implementing packaging equipment changes.
- Familiarity with food industry safety standards and compliance requirements.
- Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time to multiple plant locations.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage with plant teams, vendors, and project stakeholders.
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical teams.

Salary Range: $80,000 and up
*The salary range for this position is dependent on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and skill set.
