The Opportunity
Adept Group is seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer (1099 Contractor) to add to our team! This candidate will have 5+ years' experience in package development and operations, ideally in Consumer Products. They will have A to Z experience with packaging design, testing, implementation. Additionally, this candidate would have knowledge of various packaging materials, tooling, and equipment. Proficiency in SAP/PLM, packaging testing standards (ASTM, Amazon, WMU), and CAD tool is also required.
Travel to New Jersey, Delaware, and Connecticut required.
The project duration is 3 months at 40 hours per week, with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead packaging development.
- Manage packaging projects end-to-end: design, development, feasibility, implementation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally and with external vendors.
- Ensure packaging meets consumer, manufacturing, shipping, and quality requirements.
- Drive innovation and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Support SOPs, packaging specifications, and complaint investigations.
Typical Day to Day:
- Engage with internal teams and suppliers to design and qualify packaging.
- Evaluate risks, develop specifications, and oversee testing.
- Frequent reporting and updates to management.
- Domestic travel to plants and suppliers.
- Troubleshooting packaging-related production issues.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in packaging engineering.
- 5+ years in package development and operations, ideally in consumer products.
- A-to-Z experience with packaging design, testing, implementation.
- Knowledge of various packaging materials, tooling, and equipment.
- Proficiency in SAP/PLM, packaging testing standards (ASTM, Amazon, WMU), and CAD tools.
- Strong communication, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience with equipment qualification, FATs.
- Knowledge of monolayer and multilayer film processing.
- Prior work with contract manufacturers and global suppliers.
