The Opportunity
 
Adept Group is seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer (1099 Contractor) in the Sumner/Seattle, WA area! This candidate would have 5+ years of packaging engineering experience with pulp and paper, specifically within the pulp and paper industry experience at the mill, converter, coating, or other capacity supporting in manufacturing or R&D is preferred.
 
This is a 1099 Contractor (Independent Contractor) opportunity for 6 months with the possibility of extension at 40 hours per week.
 
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Lead and personally execute materials testing 
  • Train others on testing  
  • Manage complex technical packaging programs 
  • Create test reports and analysis  
Typical Day to Day: 
  • Lead and personally execute materials testing, covering standard methodologies (TAPPI, ASTM, ISTA, ISO, etc.) and non standard self-developed methods to adapt to unique testing needs
  • Analyze, interpret, and report on testing results with data analysis and narrative in written format 
  • Source, procure, and handle logistics for material samples between manufactures, suppliers, and internal/external labs
  • Ability to work in both Seattle, WA and Sumner, WA with some domestic travel as needed
  • Manage complex technical packaging programs that require coordinating schedules internally with teams and externally with manufacturers/converters/labs 
Requirements:
  • Add in details from Intake Form
  • 5-10+ years' experience (combination of professional, co-op, and/or internship experience)
  • Pulp and paper experience, preferably within the pulp and paper industry experience at the mill, converter, coating, or other capacity supporting in manufacturing or R&D
  • Experience with material science, mechanical, lab, quality assurance, or packaging engineering
